Google’s HTTPS-driven services have caused issues for organisations
worldwide over recent months, allowing inappropriate content to go
uninspected.
Users who have been using Smoothwall HTTPS filtering won’t have seen any
issue, but those who don’t may have seen the potential for circumvention
of filtering policies. For those users Smoothwall have created the
following solution:
In the GUI, browse to “Guardian > Content Modification > Create
Policy” and create a policy with the following settings:
Who: [Select group you wish to apply the rule to]
What: Web Search
Where: [Select location]
Action: Google NoSSLSearch Feature
Enabled: Ticked
Save and, if needed, move the rule up the policy table.
