At the SAP University Competence Center (SAP UCC) in Magdeburg, the old HPE StoreOnce solution with DataProtector was due to be replaced. A new and flexible software solution for data backup had to be found. Many believe their data in the cloud is fully protected from all possible loss. The new version of SEP sesam - “Beefalo” is the universal backup and restore solution for most virtual environments as well as cloud-to-cloud backup. SEP sesam Beefalo supports eight hypervisors natively. New additions are Proxmox VE and the free Citrix variant XCP-ng. The HPE StoreOnce / Catalyst API is also supported for HPE environments.
For quite some time it has been possible to make an online differential backups of Kopano. It is therefore sufficient to make a full backup at longer intervals (e.g. weekly). In between (e.g. every night) differential backups are sufficient, which occupy less space and are much faster.
